Summer calls for ice cream, and plenty of it. Like most things, ice cream is infinitely more delicious (and customizable) when made at home. But the idea of eating ice cream is to cool down and relax, not work up a sweat churning it and then spend your fleeting summer nights cleaning the kitchen.
Luckily, you don't need special equipment to make awesome ice cream. These five recipes are all no-churn, which ensures delicious ice cream with minimal elbow grease. That means you can get right to the good part: Eating it.
1. In a bag
This unreal technique creates ice cream using a few ingredients and two plastic baggies. You read that correctly. Simply combine cream, milk, sugar, and flavoring in a quart-sized baggie, seal it up, and toss it in a gallon-sized baggie filled with ice and salt and shake it up until the mixture stiffens. Make sure to wrap your hands in oven mits to keep them from freezing too!
2. With a whipped cream base
Why put your whipped cream on top of your ice cream when you can blend it right in? This cookies and cream recipe starts with a base of whipped heavy cream which is then mixed sweetened condensed milk and oreos. The mix is ready in just 10 minutes.
3. In a stand-mixer
This gussied-up strawberry cheesecake ice cream calls for a base with sweetened condensed milk, which gives a thick and creamy consistency without needing to churn. That means the bulk of this recipe can be made right in your stand mixer.
4. In a blender
These blueberry lemonade popsicles can be combined in a blender or food processor. Bonus: They’re just three ingredients and take 10 minutes to prepare. Just pour into popsicle molds and pop in the freezer for at least six hours.
5. With liquor
Duh. This mudslide ice cream recipe is spiked with Bailey’s and Kahlua, which keeps it sweet and creamy. Whether or not you make a toast is up to you, but we have a feeling the ice cream will be gone before you have time to figure it out.
